Transporter Zine by Marie Gardiner - cover

Transporter (2024)

Transporter is my first zine. For those who don’t know, a zine is a mini magazine, usually focused on one subject, and it’s a great way for photographers to be able to get work out to you. Taken over 11 years, Transporter is a zine featuring photographs of Middlesbrough’s iconic Transporter Bridge. An important piece of industrial heritage, a cultural icon, and a proud landmark, the Transporter means a lot to many of us and I’m proud to be able to tip my hat to it in a small way through my photographs.

Changing Landscapes (2025)

I’ve been documenting the North Pennines obsessively for most of the last decade. After my first couple of ruins, I was hooked, buying old ordnance survey maps to see if I could work out where buildings, vehicles, or structures were likely to be. Putting some of these images together as a formal project has been a long time coming. There’s enough material (which of course, I’m still generating) for several publications, so it was a hard task to narrow it down to the images on these 40 pages. I hope you enjoy the ones I’ve chosen.

‘Tories Out!’ Limited edition A5 print

To mark the 40th anniversary year of the Miners’ Strike, I’m doing a limited edition ‘Tories Out!’ A5 print featuring graffiti from Orgreave, where picketing miners were set upon by the police in what would come to be known as ‘The Battle of Orgreave’.

This photograph was taken in June 2024 while visiting Orgreave to be part of the 40th anniversary march in Sheffield.
